QUAIFE DRAG RACING LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL (LSD) K SERIES
This is designed for High horsepower drag cars, design with stonger internals it's meant to stand the abuse of anything thrown at it.
An ordinary open differential is the standard on most cars. A lot of precious power is wasted during wheel spin under acceleration. This happens because the open differential shifts power to the wheel with less grip, along the path of least resistance.
The QUAIFE'S unique design offers maximum traction, improves handling and steering, and puts the power where it is needed most. A definite advantage whether on the track or on the street. The QUAIFE is extremely strong and durable and since the Quaife is gear operated, it has no plates or clutches that can wear out and need costly replacement. The QUAIFE is great for street driving or racing. Racers don't have to put up with locking mechanisms or spools that tear the steering wheel out of their hands when cornering. Because it behaves like an open differential during ordinary driving, street drivers will have trouble telling it's there until pushing the cars limits. The QUAIFE has been proven in everything from SCCA Rally to Formula 1. It provides autocrossers with such an advantage, it has become "required" equipment for a winning effort. Expand your vehicle's limits with the QUAIFE Differential!
The 23DG was designed to improve the characteristics of the standard QDF9U K-series differential in a FWD drag race application by reducing the Torque Bias Ratio, or the torque "difference" between the two axles. Though by design, a Quaife differential will never fully lock, the 23DG has a TBR closer to 1:1 when compared to the standard QDF9U. This is advantageous for putting equal power to the ground through both axles, which reduces torque steer and speed scrubbing corrections in straight line acceleration.
Internally, it is a classic Quaife Torque Biasing Differential with helical cut gears so you can still run it on the street without issue. However, if you're specifically looking for performance in corners, you'll want to stick with the standard QDF9U, as it will power the axle with traction harder and "work" to pull you through the corners better than the 23DG.
Like all Quaife differentials, it's made from high-quality billet gear steel, is maintenance free, uses OEM fluids, and is backed with a Lifetime Warranty. It's designed to be a drop-in replacement for the OEM differential, so installation is very straight forward in the most popular K-series transmissions.
